Winter
Now I know it is only June, and it isn't even summer yet, but today was a rainy and cold day. It made me think of winter in BC. And that made me think about Christmas. And that made me think about putting up Christmas decorations. And now that is all I want to do. I think I would even be a little bit happy if it snowed some. I am starting to scare myself. But I suppose it is June...and I do live in Alberta. Only about three months give or take, and then it will be here whether I want it or not.

I need a job
Today I decided to do some laundry. Five loads later I realized that this should be something I do more often. I also learned that it takes the same amount of time to wash two loads as it does to dry one. It is a sad thing when this is the highlight of your day.

Mission...possible??
Date: December 3 2006
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Messiah Lutheran Church
Event: CLBI Christmas concert
Mission: Get Jen in a dress
This is what happened last night: Angela and Patti thought it would be fun to get all dressed up before we went to the concert. They also thought it would be fun if I joined them. I disagree. After over half an hour of peer pressure I finally gave in. Let me give you a picture of what it was like. Imagine me walking down the street in a dress in the cold in high heels in the snow. I am never going to listen to them ever again.

Nevermind
Completely disregard that last post. My key finally came out. All I had to do was run it for like ten minutes. Maybe it really was frozen after all.
Car Keys
I don't think my car likes living in Alberta. It is much more partial to the B.C climate, although from what I hear they are becoming quite similar. Today when I turned my car off when I got to work the keys would not come out of the ignition. They would not come out when I drove to the gas station, or when I stopped at the mall. They still would not come out when I got home. I think they are frozen inside. My mom said I should try spraying cooking spray on them like you would on a stuck door hinge. Any other suggestions?

I'm a big girl now
Okay...so I know that one of Cassy's previous posts has this title, but I just really wanted to use it. I also couldn't get the pull up theme song out of my head. I figured it must be a sign. Plus Cassy's post was back in August. I know this because I was creepy and looked back to find out if she actually had used it. Anyways, the reason I am a big girl now is because I got a new job on Saturday. At a nursing home. I get benefits. Scary eh? But I am pretty excited about it. Now I can get my wisdom teeth out. Bonus.

Cooked Chicken
Today I decided to have chicken for dinner. Then I decided that I was to impatient to dethaw it and then cook it. That just takes too long. So I cooked it in the microwave. Did you know that when you cook chicken, from frozen, in the microwave it does not taste so good? Well if you didn't before, now you do. It kinda turned a funny color, and was really chewy and dry. Of course I ate it anyways...I was hungry. But for future reference, BAD IDEA.

Just to set the record straight...
I have recently become a big fan of how news changes as it spreads. It is quite entertaining. That said, contrary to popular belief, Colin and I did not get engaged at McDonalds. Though, there is a chance that we went there for breakfast...I can't really remember. But wouldn't it have been a good story if we did? I mean, who gets engaged at McDonalds? Someone should really try it to see if it is as cool as it sounds. I vote Nook. She is always up for a good story. Who knows...you might even see a giraffe.

Halloween Candy
So today at work I was cleaning a room that was a checkout. When I was taking the blankets off the bed I discovered a pillowcase full of candy. Now this was the kind of candy that you would only get if you went trick or treating. Kind of strange considering the people staying in that room had both been at least forty. A bit old for trick or treating don't you think? I guess what I am really trying to say here is that I got a bag of free candy...I also got engaged on Saturday.

Nothing...
So, do you ever go to write on your blog, only to find you have nothing to say? I feel like I should write something, but I really have nothing interesting. It is rather unfortunate really.

7 hours and counting...
Today is my boss' daughters 13th birthday. Because of this they decided to suprise her by taking her and some friends to the West Ed Waterpark. They started training me on Tuesday so that I could run the front desk while they were gone. I came in at 7:45 this morning and this is what they said to me..."We will be back later once the kids get bored." Now I am just wondering what exactly does that mean. These are thirteen year olds we are talking about, not only that but they are girls, and they are at a really big mall. Do you think it is possible that they could ever get bored there? Not that I mind working...it's just that i'm not actually working. I think I have talked on the phone about 3 times, and I checked one person out of their room. I also did some laundry. That is it. Now I am here just in case. I am getting paid to write letters, talk on msn, work on my blog, drink starbucks, and visit people who know I am working and come to visit me. They even said I could go upstairs to where they live and watch tv. Why can't work always be like this?

It like me
So, today at work my boss decided that it would be a good time to teach me how to run front desk. For those of you who don't know, I work at a motel doing mostly cleaning and laundry. She started by briefly explaining (in about 3 min) how to do everything. Then the phone rang. I was the lucky one who got to answer it. This is how the conversation went.
Me: Hello Travellers Inn?
Person: Hi this is labgurbgaoihguir I have a reservation
Me: This is who?
Person: thoeianfrewoigndgio.
Me: Christie(my boss) I think it is for you.
Good start don't you think? Then the phone rang again, and I once again happened to be so fortunate to answer it. It was actually going quite well. Then I got rather dizzy and started to feel sick. Then I was on the ground. The customer was still on the phone. Good thing I had the sense to hold out the phone to Christie as I went. All in all I think I am going to like this position. I mean, how could you not after a start like that. Even better, I only managed to accedentily delete one person's reservation after that. I figure at this point I have nowhere to go but up.

Prince George
Yesterday Patti and I went to the wave pool in Prince George with our host Shelaine, and the vbs coordinator Tara. Tara saw a lifeguard with an arm, and hair like this, and decided that Patti should go ask him if he wanted to go in the sauna with her on his break. I was laughing so hard that I almost sank.
This week has been absolutely amazing. All of the people are so much fun and they treat us like friends that they have known for years. And the kids are awesome too. I got to teach the preschool class, which was always exciting. Especially because there were 16 kids that were 2-4. We just finished our wrap up performance, and all the kids got up and sang for their parents. They did such a good job. I wish we could stay here for the whole summer, but unfortunatly we leave for kamloops tomorrow afternoon. That will be an interesting experience too I suppose. Instead of vbs or camp we are doing inner city ministry. Kind of like an Urban Hike in July.

Fun Times
Well, I feel like I need to write something just because it has been almost a week since last time. I made several attempts, but could not come up with anything that would be worth me writing or you reading. I really am not sure that this will be worth it either, but it is a chance I am willing to take. Okay, so here are some non important things that have happened..or are going to happen. Tomorrow I am driving to Prince George with Reide and Patti, and the cop that taught me how to shoot a bbgun last week. We went out for dinner with them the other night and I don't think there was even ten seconds of silence the whole meal. Should make for an interesting trip. Yesterday I went to the bank to get travellers checks for my team, and since the lady took so long, she gave us all tim hortons gift certificates. Today Bernell made us cinnamon buns for breakfast. Soon I will be back in Mission, and I will get to see Jordan. I watched Space Jam last night. I think that is about it.

The Break up
So, seeing how much I love romantic comedies, today me and Patti went to see the break up. For those of you who don't know what it is about, i will give you a quick overview. There is a guy and a girl and, wait for it....they break up! I know, no one saw that coming. That pretty much sums up the whole movie. The only redeeming point is that they don't get back together in the end. (Sorry if that wrecked the movie for some people...but hey, its not that good anyways) The point of this blog is this...if you are ever bored and think to yourself 'maybe I should go see the breakup'...DON'T.
Cousin, if you love me, won't you please please smile?
Creepy, I know. But fun all the same. Tonight we went to "Bonnie and Wanda's excellent adventure". It was a random cowboy/hick/farmer/redneck fun night with all the people from summer teams. It was quite interesting. My favorite part was shooting pop cans with a bbgun with the help of a cop. We also had some barrel races on peoples backs, and played a true hick version of the honey if you love me game. The best part was when Leah came out with the line "I've always wanted to sit on a cop's lap before". Good thing his wife was in the house.
Well, I should probably go to bed seeing as it is after one and I have to get up for church tomorrow. It is finally a full day off, which is quite exciting. No VBS for a full 24 hours. What more could you want? I love my life.

Frankies
How many small town flower shops, that are only open 9-5, do you come across at 1am and find their lights still on and people inside. I know you are all wondering why I would be out walking past flower shops at one in the morning when I am supposed to be in bed by 12..but that is beside the point. The real point is that I think Cassy was right when she said that Frankies is probably a coverup for the mob. Now I didn't actually see any guns or italians(or is it russians for the mob?), which are quite crucial elements, but for the sake of a good story lets say that I did. Hopefully they don't come and kill me now.

Broken Glass
I had always thought of myself as a positive person. One who sees the glass as being half full instead of half empty. But I think, after only a day and a half of training, that being a pessimist is much easier. That way you can horribly maim all of the people that you are working with..besides a select few...and not feel bad about it. I think that is my goal for tommorow. It seems like a much better idea then sitting and attempting to listen to people talk all day. I say attempting because i probably missed over half of it because i was so bored. Oh well, i suppose if I pick them off one at a time no one will notice..or suspect me. If they do, well, then they just get to be next on the list.

How many tries do you think it took to create brownies?
Honestly, have you ever thought about that? I think it would take a lot because you would have to find a recipe that wasn't too wet or too dry, too sweet or not sweet enough, cooked too long or not long enough... I don't know that I would be willing to put in all the effort. Especially when there is no guarantee that it would ever taste good. Maybe they made them by mistake..
The reason I am talking about this is because I just made brownies. I couldn't find the vanilla extract though so I used maple instead. Now I am just hoping they taste good. I also put maple in the icing, just for good measure. Oh well, I am not going to be the one eating them anyways. And they won't be eaten until I am in another province so I am not to concerned.
